As discussed we have submitted our new application for 16-17 Kings Road, Brighton, BN1 1NE. 

 

REDACTED TEXT, Head of Estates will be providing you with a letter of concern and support for our application shortly. 

 

In addition to this we would like to highlight the nature of this scenario so we can display our exceptional circumstances. 

 

We began this project in November 2018 and the pub closed on 24th December 2018. No alcohol has been served since then. 

 

Since then we have been through 3 planning processes, multiple listed building consents and surveys and reports to rectifying decades of structural issues on this council owned property. 

 

Works that were meant to take 3 months are likely to hit 3 years before being completed and we are trading. 

 

Due to the delays and the COVID 19 pandemic our initial entity, structure and investment had to change in order to continue. We had to pivot and adapt in order to be able to complete the works on behalf of BHCC. 

 

With this new entity came a new LTD company and thus how we have ended up here.

 

There has always been a license in place at the property and it had a rich history in Brighton prior to closing. 

 

There were no issues outstanding and if anything the immediate area suffers when the building is not active so the sooner we can get the works finished and open the better.

 

This license has lapsed due to an administrative error and in this scenario does not reflect the intention of the law it was put in place for. 

 

I am a good operator with a good history of operating safely and responsibly in this city for multiple venues and I believe we should be given the opportunity to do so here.
